How to safely perform fall chores...
Fall chores can be anything from raking leaves to decorating for fall, Thanksgiving, and even Christmas! Things like raking leaves are full body movements that can sometimes cause neck and low back pain as well as pulled muscles and sprains/strains. It may sound goofy, but simple sprains/strains can aggravate joint and disc degeneration in the spine if not properly cared for. Our suggestion is if you have body stiffness/soreness that continues for more than 3 days after performing fall chores, call our office. A thorough exam and treatment can be performed to make sure your body can recover as quickly as possible.
Although it is cooling off outside, make sure to continue to stay hydrated while performing chores! Dehydration is one of the main causes of muscle spasms and cramps.
Sometimes ice and heat can help minor strains and sprains that happen at home and our doctors can determine which one is best for you. All you have to do is call our office at 724-224-2224!
Happy Fall!
